|Abstract:||This paper looks at the role of vocational and technical education as an intervention in the 6-3-3-4 Nigerian education system. The aim of the 6-3-3-4 system of education was the vocationalization of the education to enable beneficiaries be self-reliant and to be gainfully employed. The implementation has however been faulty leading to high unemployment rate of school leavers and graduates with unintended consequences. The paper posits that with proper emphasis on vocational education the problem of unemployment will be considerably reduced to a manageable level as many school leavers and graduates with employable skills can be self-reliant or find employment with minimal time on the job queue|
