Abstract: Within the current system of education is an assessment philosophy which recognizes that the certification of a student on a course cannot be equitably attested through one-shot end of term or course examination. Hence continuous assessment has been entrenched as a critical factor in curriculum implementation. This paper accordingly questions the apparent silence on assignment which is an important tool in continuous assessment process, and is supposed to provide an easy means of meeting course objectives. How assignment could be used to enhance assessment and achievement of course objectives is discussed in the paper
