|Title:||EXPANDING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE DISADVANTAGED GROUPS THROUGH CONTINUING EDUCATION IN NIGERIA.|
|Publisher:||Nigerian National Council for adult Education|
|Abstract:||The examined the issue of expanding educational opportunities for disadvantaged groups through continuing education programme. The disadvantaged group as used here refer to the educationally disadvantaged persons such as women, children, the nomads and the handicapped persons. The authors X-rayed previous efforts aimed at extending educational opportunities to the disadvantaged groups and argued that these efforts have not been quite successful. This underscores the need to seek alternative measures aimed at expanding educational opportunities for the disadvantaged groups. In this regard, the authors found in continuing education programme the potentials of ensuring unhindered access to education by individuals irrespective of age, sex or religious affiliation. The author also examined the challenges involved in extending educational opportunities for all and also concluded with a note on how to ensure that continuing education practice is successfully applied to ensure unhindered access to education for them.|
